"Sunrise - Humboldt and Baldy" Oil, Curt Gillespie
Greenstone Artworks is co-owned by Curt Gillespie, a painter, and his wife, Linnea Laurila, a fiber artist. The new building opened in 2017 to promote the arts in the Wet Mountain Valley and serve as a creative site. The gallery also represents other select Colorado artists. In addition to the gallery, the building houses Curt's studio and a classroom for education in various art mediums. The classroom is available to rent.
Isle Royale Greenstone, chlorastrolite, is the state gemstone of Michigan and is found in the Keewenaw Peninsula and Isle Royale National Park. It is a green colored stone with fine stellate masses that have a "turtleback" pattern. The Greenstone business name was chosen for its connection to Michigan, Linnea's homeland, and the place Curt & Linnea lived for 20 years.
